Chemical Peels in Boynton Beach: What They Are, What They Do, and Who They're For — Beautiful Skin by Angela

Chemical peels have a reputation that makes some of my clients nervous. They hear "chemical" and imagine peeling, redness, and hiding at home for a week. The reality is usually much gentler than that — and in South Florida, where sun exposure creates real skin concerns for so many of my Boynton Beach clients, chemical peels are one of the most effective tools I have.

Let me explain exactly what a professional chemical peel is, what it does, and how I decide whether one is right for you.

What Is A Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a controlled exfoliation treatment that uses an acid — typically alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), or a blend — to dissolve the bonds between dead skin cells and the surface of your skin. When those bonds release, the dead cell layer sheds more completely than it would through physical exfoliation alone, revealing the fresher skin underneath.

The depth of that process depends on the type and concentration of acid used, the number of layers applied, and how long it's left on. This is why chemical peels are not a DIY product — the same ingredients in different concentrations produce dramatically different results.

What Chemical Peels Actually Address

In my practice, I use chemical peels most often for:

Sun damage and hyperpigmentation

South Florida sun creates significant surface damage over time — uneven tone, dark spots, and a general dullness that's hard to address with products alone. Chemical peels accelerate the turnover of that damaged surface layer.

Post

acne marks. The redness and brown marks that acne leaves behind are one of the most common concerns I hear from my Boynton Beach clients. Peels help fade these marks significantly faster than time alone.

Texture and fine lines

The skin's natural exfoliation process slows as we age. A chemical peel speeds it back up, smoothing texture and softening fine lines at the surface.

Active acne

BHA peels — salicylic acid specifically — are oil-soluble, meaning they penetrate into pores rather than just working at the surface. For clients with persistent breakouts, a targeted BHA peel can be a turning point.

What To Expect

A light to medium chemical peel in my studio in Boynton Beach typically involves some mild stinging or warming sensation during the application — nothing dramatic. After the treatment, you may experience some redness for a few hours and mild flaking over the following three to five days. The flaking is the whole point: it's the treated surface shedding. During this time, I ask clients to avoid picking or peeling and to stay out of direct sun.

For stronger peels, the experience and the downtime are more significant. I walk every client through exactly what to expect before I apply anything.

Who Should Consider A Chemical Peel

If you have sun damage, hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, post-acne marks, or dull skin that doesn't respond to your home care routine, a chemical peel may be exactly what your skin needs. I assess your skin before recommending any peel — the right strength and formula for your skin is everything.
