Dermaplaning in Boynton Beach: What It Is and Why My Clients Love It

Dermaplaning is one of those treatments that sounds more dramatic than it is. When I describe it to new clients — using a sterile surgical blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and peach fuzz — I can see them hesitate. By the time the treatment is done, they're asking when they can come back.
Here's everything you need to know about dermaplaning at Beautiful Skin by Angela in Boynton Beach.
What Dermaplaning Is
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique performed with a sterile, single-use surgical-grade blade. I hold the blade at a specific angle and use short, feathering strokes across the skin to remove the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of dead cells) and vellus hair — commonly called peach fuzz.
The result is immediate and noticeable: skin that is visibly smoother, brighter, and more refined. Many clients describe it as the cleanest their skin has ever felt.
The Peach Fuzz Question
Almost everyone asks whether the hair grows back thicker or darker. The answer is no — and this is backed by anatomy. Vellus hair does not have the same follicle structure as terminal hair. Removing it with a blade does not change the follicle. It grows back at the same fine, light texture it had before.
What Dermaplaning Improves
Surface texture
This is the most universal improvement. Removing the dead cell layer and fine hair reveals the smooth skin underneath. The improvement is tactile — you can feel it.
Radiance
Without the hazy layer of dead cells and fuzz diffusing light, skin looks noticeably more luminous and clear.
Makeup application
This is something my clients mention consistently. Foundation and concealer go on dramatically better after dermaplaning — no texture, no fuzz interrupting coverage.
Product absorption
Serums and moisturizers applied to a dermaplane-treated surface penetrate more effectively. This is why I often combine dermaplaning with a facial or targeted treatment — you get more from every product applied afterward.
Who Dermaplaning Is (And Isn't) For
Dermaplaning is appropriate for most skin types, including sensitive skin. It is not appropriate for clients with active acne, raised lesions, or highly reactive skin — the blade cannot safely work over active breakouts.
It is particularly well-suited for clients concerned with texture, dullness, and the impact of South Florida sun on their skin's surface.
How Often And How To Maintain
Most clients come in for dermaplaning every four to six weeks — aligning with the skin's natural cell turnover cycle. Between sessions, I recommend gentle home care, daily SPF (especially in Boynton Beach's sun climate), and avoiding harsh physical exfoliants that would work against the renewed surface.
